How to install my mesh wire fencing ?

Would you like to install mesh roll fencing ? Do you need advice on how to do this perfectly ? Follow our guide

It’s pretty simple to put up mesh wire fencing.  However it is imperative to follow certain steps that will allow you to tension it well and thus make it more solid and durable.

  • Some tips before you start

    The fence
Calculate the perimeter of your garden and count one roll every 25 m.

    The posts
Calculate the perimeter of your garden in metres. A post is installed every 2.50 m.
    Number of posts needed = (perimeter / 2.5) + 1.

    Struts
Plan for one strut per end post and 2 struts per corner.

    Tension wire
Define the number of rows of wire needed: one row at the top, one row at the bottom + one row every 50 cm. Then calculate the length of the tension wire you need (number of rows + length of the fence) + 5%.

    Tensioners
Provide one tensioner per row of tension wire + 1 tensioner near each starting, corner and reinforcement post.

    The tie wire or staples
They fix the fence to the tension wire. For one meter of tension wire, you need 3 staples or 30 cm of tie wire.

    The tensioning bars
They are used to tension the fence without deforming it. Provide one bar per end post and 2 bars per corner or reinforcement post.

  • Here are the steps to install mesh wire fencing successfully

    1.    Use small wooden posts to mark out the area to be fenced.  Connect them with rope to create lines.
    2.    Mark the floor every 2m50 to 3m to anticipate the position of your posts. Think of the need for posts with struts at each angle as well as on the starting and ending posts. Struts are also recommended every 25m without an angle.
    3.    Attach the required struts to the posts to anticipate the spacing and therefore the holes to be made.  Mark the position of the holes for the struts.
    4.    Dig the holes to embed the posts and struts. Allow 30-50 cm depending on the height of your fence.
    5.    Prepare the concrete.
    6.    Position the first post with its strut. Be sure to check the height of your fence.
    7.    Pour the concrete and check that your post is straight with a level.
    8.    Repeat this until all your posts are in position.
    9.    Pass the tension wire through the posts (3 rows if the height is less than 1m25, 4 rows up to 1m50, 5 rows up to 2m and 6 rows if above).
    10.    Insert the strainers to tighten your wires. Tighten the strainers on both sides.
    11.    Attach the wire mesh to the first post and unroll it close to the ground.
    12.    Pass the tension bar through the roll of wire (trying to braid it on the roll of wire to fix it better). Tie the tension bar to the post.
    13.    Attach the fence to the tension wire by positioning the clips every two meshes.
